Freedom is something to be celebrated. And Juneteenth is a National Holiday to celebrate the emancipation proclamation freeing all slaves in the United States in 1863. But the message did not reach some southern states like Texas until June 19th, 1865. It was then that June 19th became Juneteenth. It is considered an additional independence day.
