Upcoming exhibits at the Hammer Museum
October 30th, 2018
Whether you are an artist, writer, or just a fan, seeing original art in person reveals such depth and emotion to the work. The Hammer has some new exhibits that are very compelling. All exhibits here are FREE to the public. For added insight, opt for a guided tour on Saturdays at 1pm. They also have group tours. In addition to art, The Hammer also has musical performances, speakers, poetry readings, kids’ programs, and screenings.
Hammer Projects: Petrit Halilaj
For his first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, Halilaj will present a group of the moths suspended at various heights, illuminated by custom flickering lights.
Hammer Projects: Shadi Habib Allah
Habib Allah’s project is organized around a series of images and sculptures that approximate the quotidian nature and social reality of areas such as Liberty City, which are marked by racial and economic disparity.
Stones to Stains: The Drawings of Victor Hugo
This exhibition sheds new light on Hugo’s experimental and enigmatic practice as a draftsman and includes over 75 drawings and photographs spanning the duration of his career.
Adrian Piper: Concepts and Intuitions, 1965-2016
Adrian Piper has consistently produced groundbreaking, transformative work that has profoundly shaped the form and content of Conceptual art since the 1960s. Strongly inflected by her longstanding involvement with philosophy and yoga, her pioneering investigations into the political, social, psychological, and spiritual potential of Conceptual art have had an incalculable influence on artists working today.
