The importance of staying hydrated

During these extra warm summer months, it’s vital to stay properly hydrated. Actually, it’s important all year round. Just how much water should you drink a day? According to WebMD, there are some specifics that are important. Staying hydrated has wonderful benefits. Drinking enough water daily helps your body’s temperature stay in the normal range especially on warmer days. It helps keep our joints working more smoothly by lubricating and cushioning them. It helps to protect the more delicate tissues throughout the body. And last, but not least, it really helps with removing waster from our bodies easier. Another thing to note that while all beverages contain water, it’s important to augment coffee, tea, soft drinks, juices, etc with just plain, old-fashioned water. Sports drinks are especially something to be careful of because they contain a lot of extra sugar and salt which is not helpful or good for our health. For a sweet treat and easy and delicious way to enjoy more water, eat some watermelon. It’s so refreshing! Be sure to check with your doctor to see how much water you should be drinking every day for optimum health especially if you have thyroid disease, kidney, liver or heart problems, and taking certain medications.
