The History of Memorial Day
May 27th, 2022
Pride and pain are words often associated with remembering our fallen heroes. Memorial Day is not only the unofficial start of summer but an important day to reflect upon those who gave all, and the families who have courageously endured such major losses. The commemoration of Memorial Day began long ago. It started in the first years after the Civil War. It wasn’t until 1971, did it officially become a national holiday of remembrance. And we’ve been through World War I, World War II, Vietnam, Korea, and too many to count since then. Learn more about Memorial Day history now. On behalf of NoHo Senior Arts Colony, thank you to every hero that has made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us and the world safe. You will never be forgotten. Love and strength to their families and friends of these heroes today and always.
