Staying healthier during the holidays
December 27th, 2021
Celebrating the holidays is important. We all need time to appreciate this festive season and all the love and joy it brings. Many times it’s very easy to overindulge. There’s delicious food of all kinds everywhere! But at NoHo Senior Arts Colony, we’ve found some good tips from our friends at Forbes and the CDC to help us all have a healthier but still festive holiday season. A few of the highlights include portion control. You can enjoy those sweet and savory dishes but try to make your portions smaller. You’ll still get to enjoy the delicious flavors without feeling like you need a nap. Another great tip is to drink plenty of water. Water helps our bodies process everything easier. Taking a short walk every day is also a good tip. You don’t have to be a professional athlete to take a healthy walk (make sure you’re wearing a warm coat and apparel). If you’re able, a light workout with light weights is also helpful. Your mind can also use a rest so if you can, fit in a 10-minute mediation to clear your mind. Make sure to check with your medical professional about any changes to your diet or exercise routine. Just remember to keep your holidays light and bright!
