Play all day: Why play is good for your brain
September 1st, 2022
At NoHo Seniors Arts Colony, we take play very seriously. It’s very important to incorporate some fun time on a regular basis. Play could be playing golf, working on a puzzle, playing catch with your grandkids at the park, watching your favorite comedy movie, and the list goes on and on. For starters, your brain will love when you play more. It helps to improve memory function, social connections and relieve stress. Playing also helps to inspire new ideas. It’s stimulating. Maybe you try a class or two just for the fun of it and discover a new passion for knowledge. Relationships also benefit when we relax, are playful, and connect. “Dad” jokes and puns are such icebreakers and an easy way to bring a smile to someone’s face. How about having an impromptu dance party in your apartment with your grandkid’s favorite music, or better yet, introduce them to some of your favorite happy songs. Learn more about the benefits of regular playing. And be sure to ask us about our current event and activity calendar at NoHo Senior Arts Colony. Play is child’s play here.
