Art spotlight: Gallery 800

North Hollywood is full of creativity. When you are in the entertainment industry or a creative pro, this town has inspiration everywhere. Gallery 800 is a popular local gallery in the NoHo Arts District. Since 2009, they’ve featured established and emerging artist’s work in ongoing exhibitions. They are located at 5108 Lankershim Blvd. at the Historic Lankershim Arts Center in the heart of North Hollywood They are open Thursday – Friday: 12:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday 2:00 – 8:00 pm Sundays 12:00 – 6:00pm. Salute to Vienna New Year’s Concert Los Angeles

If you’ve never been to Walt Disney Concert Hall, now’s the perfect time. Enjoy an incredible New Year’s concert that celebrates Vienna’s golden age of music. The Salute to Vienna concert takes place on Sunday, December 20 at 2:30pm. What a warm and wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Enjoy Strauss waltzes and operettas accompanied by acclaimed musicians, a live symphony orchestra, dancers, and singers. The Walt Disney Concert Hall is home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic and has incredible performances all year round.

What says holiday more than delicious baked goods?! Luckily, there are great bakeries and café near NoHo Senior Arts Colony to pick up traditional holiday cookies, decadent desserts, freshly made breads, and more tasty stuff. Lilit Bakery Café in North Hollywood has authentic Armenian bakery items such as lahmajun, perashki, byoreg and more. Porto’s Bakery in Burbank has signature cakes that include tempting carrot cake, tiramisu, red velvet, Parisian chocolate, and more. They also have tarts and cheesecakes. Republic of Pie has a nice variety of freshly baked scones, macaroons, croissants, pot pies, and more.

Las Posadas on Olvera Street: DEC 16 – 24

Experience an annual Los Angeles tradition! Las Posadas has been happening every holiday season since 1930. That’s pretty impressive. This cultural holiday celebration honors the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem. It’s reenacted with vibrant costumes, traditional songs in Spanish, and beautiful music. Everyone is welcome. The procession starts and ends at the Avila Adobe, the oldest house in Los Angeles.  At the end, each visitor is given a cup of hot champurrado and a piece of delicious pan dulce, or sweet bread. This is a nine night festival, ending on Christmas Eve with a live Mary and Joseph, honoring the birth of Jesus. Kids will love the piñatas. Everyone will love the sweet bread and champurrado. Festivities begin at 6:00pm each night.

Looking for unique holiday gifts? We found a gem of a place you should check out. The Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles will have a holiday marketplace event on November 24-25. The marketplace is free with museum admission. See one of a kind handmade goods by local makers in Southern California. There will be ceramics, jewelry, embroidery, textiles, and much more to choose from. To add to the atmosphere there will be music and refreshments. CAFAM is gorgeous venue on Wilshire that features extraordinary modern and cultural art created from all over the world. They also feature curated events such as spoken word, literary events, and meet & greets.

Oktoberfest at the Fairplex

This hugely popular celebration includes a festive celebration of German culture, Oom-pah music, dancing, and more. Beachy keen: Abbot Kinney Festival in Venice

Take a trip to the beach for some cool tunes, artsy fun, and good times. The Abbot Kinney Festival is FREE and takes place from Venice Blvd to Main Street in Venice. There will be four stages of live music, gourmet food trucks, a beer garden, and children’s rides. True to Venice, there will lots of original art and inspiration too. The festival will take place on September 30.

It’s home to the prestigious Road Theatre Company who produce top-rated theatrical productions. Our beautiful theatre is stadium style with 78 seats. They celebrate unique voices, diversity, and all ages with powerhouse productions.

Hershey Felder: BEETHOVEN

Now is the time to understand the genius known as Beethoven in a very personal and poignant way. Written and Performed by Hershey Felder, BEETHOVEN offers a unique glimpse into Ludwig van Beethoven through the eyes of a Viennese doctor who spent his boyhood by the Maestro’s side. This production features well-known and favorite Beethoven compositions such as Moonlight Sonata, Pathetique Sonata, and pieces from the 5th and 9th Symphonies. The production runs from July 27 – August 12 at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.
