Black History Month events in L.A.
February 7th, 2018
There are numerous events in the southland to celebrate Black History Month. Since 1976, this month-long celebration has honored the pivotal role of African Americans in history. The month of February was chosen to honor the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. The United Kingdom and Canada also celebrate this month. The origins of this special month go all the way back to 1915. The theme for this year’s month is “African Americans in Times of War” and acknowledges the contributions of African American soldiers now and all the way back to the Revolutionary War. Check out the events in the Los Angeles area for this special month.
