What is your legacy?
May 20th, 2022
More and more purpose and legacy are words becoming more popular and meaningful today. Our legacies are gifts that our families, friends, and colleagues are often inspired by for years and generations to come. But what is YOUR legacy? It’s a big question. Legacies do not have to be fancy, famous, tied to material things, or financial accomplishments. Legacies can be about what makes you YOU and what you have left to the world. Tiny Buddha and Craig Goldblatt have some food for thought regarding this subject. And like many things in life, now’s a great time to discover a new purpose or nurture an existing one. The point is to find something you’re passionate about and honor it through action. It could be volunteer work, being the best grandparent or auntie, researching your family tree, and the list goes on and on. At NoHo Senior Arts Colony, our atmosphere and free classes are inspiring and inclusive. We’re here to support you in whatever your legacy is. Let’s create it together!

Tips for being the best babysitter for your grandkids
May 14th, 2022
One of the best parts of being a grandparent is spending time with your grandkids. It’s quality time to create new memories and have fun. When you are the babysitter or caregiver for your grandkids, it’s important to check with your kids what are the rules. That way everyone has a clear understanding of what to expect. Parenting styles vary from generation to generation and it’s better to know than not now to avoid conflict. One of the grandkids might have a food allergy to be cognizant of. Speaking of food, find out how to make the grandkid’s favorite foods. They’ll love it! Also, make sure to be mindful of sweets and non-nutritious foods. Make sure to have some ideas ahead of time for games, crafts, reading, and light physical exercise that you can all do together. Keep them simple. Here are some more tips and tricks to consider when babysitting. Our spacious residences at NoHo Senior Arts Colony have plenty of room to have company over for a visit including those awesome grandkids of yours!
The keys to confidence
May 10th, 2022
Confidence in ourselves is one of the best things in life! It’s also fun to be around a confident person who has that glow. But how can one get more confident? Here are some quick tips.
Stop comparing yourself to others. There is only one you! Embrace it! Don’t let your inner critic stifle your uniqueness.
Perform regular self-care. Although self-care can be different for each person, some things are universal. Make sure to take care of your personal appearance. Get regular haircuts and put on outfits you love every day.
Improve your skills. If you’d like to get better at something, or try something new, take a class. Nowadays, you can even take classes online. When you get better, it shows!
Volunteer. It can’t be said enough. Volunteering is good for the soul. When you help others, it can really help self-esteem and confidence. Find a charity or organization you love and have at it.
For even more tips about confidence, check out Psychology Today and Brain Boosted.
At NoHo Senior Arts Colony, we support you 100%!
Summer plans? We’ve got some ideas!
May 7th, 2022
Can you believe it’s almost summer?! Now that things are opening up more, it’s time to have the best summer ever. Not sure what you’d like to do? We’ve got some ideas. Traveling and taking a vacation are always popular favorites this time of year. Perhaps think of a trip to somewhere you’ve always wanted to go but never have. Or even vacation here in the states visiting with the grandkids is just as meaningful. Another idea is to come up with a bucket list of activities you’ve always wanted to do and places you’ve wanted to visit. Examples would be taking a hot air balloon ride, learning a new language or skill, or maybe it’s visiting every museum in Southern California. The possibilities are endless. Start brainstorming and one idea will lead to another. Ponly and Developing Good Habits also have some ideas to make summer even more fun. And remember right here at home at NoHo Senior Arts Colony, we’ve got resort-inspired amenities to make each day refreshing and fun.

Learn a new hobby: How about pottery?
April 28th, 2022
Remember that famous scene in the movie Ghost where Demi Moore is at her potter’s wheel? Well, making pottery is still very popular. In fact, there’s a competition show across that pond called The Great Pottery Throw Down on HBO Max that puts potters against each other to win mini and maxie challenges and ultimately go for the crown. But working with clay doesn’t have to be competitive at all. Quite the opposite. Making pottery is a great way to still be creative and problem solve only in a more tranquil environment. Even watching those pottery-making videos is peaceful. We even found an online beginner’s guide. There are some local shops in the area if you are thinking of dabbling in making pottery and gaining new skills. Bermon Ceramic Arts right here in North Hollywood has been teaching people to work clay for over 50 years. The Potters Nook in Burbank also sounds like a laid-back and cool place to try a new hobby. It sounds fun! When you live at NoHo Senior Arts Colony, you’ll discover new talents and inspirations you never knew you had.
