Happy Chanukah! DEC 12-20
December 15th, 2017
On behalf of everyone at NoHo Senior Arts Colony, have a happy Chanukah! Chanukah is the Jewish eight-day, wintertime “festival of lights,” celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special prayers and fried foods. We found a local link that has a ton of Chanukah information and content including Chanukah basics, how to’s, the Chanukah story, recipes, stories, videos, and even a special section for kids. They also have info for Chanukah events all over the country. The Hebrew word Chanukah means “dedication,” and is thus named because it celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple. Also spelled Hanukkah (or variations of that spelling), the Hebrew word is actually pronounced with a guttural, “kh” sound, kha-nu-kah, not tcha-new-kah.
